Rachel Portman's "Chocolat" is an exquisitely delicious soundtrack. It perfectly complements Lasse Hallstrom's sensuous movie about temptation, longing, and love. There's the music of Duke Ellington (it's set in post-WW II France) and Django Reinhardt, the famous Gipsy guitarist. The opening theme is an amazing blend of Gipsy and South American music (panpipes) It evokes the character of Vianne, the beautiful chocolatier, the daughter of a French scientist and a Mayan maiden who healed with cacao. "Chocolat" is an irresistible temptation!
